What our games have done so far. We count the people who showed up and what they got up to together, because that is the part worth counting.

The first tournament

We opened it to six friends in May. Then we spent five days telling anyone who would listen, and 126 more people signed up before a ball was kicked. Here is what those few weeks actually looked like.

Between 7 and 11 June the curve went vertical: 126 people in five days.

A hundred of them were in before the first whistle, which was the only deadline that mattered.

The deadline did the work

5,706 calls

Group calls only. They lock at kick-off, so the chart stops there.

5,706 is only the group stage. Add the knockout picks and the tournament took just over 9,000 calls in all.

Group predictions lock the moment the first match starts, so 2,232 of them landed on kick-off day itself. Nearly four in ten, at the buzzer.

Six in ten played in a league with friends or family. A game that built mini communities.

83 of the 141 joined a league with people they already knew. The biggest crew was fourteen.

Jungle Draft is still early. The first cohort is drafting now, and their numbers will show up here once they have played a season.

  5. 26 June

    515 bits of banter

In fifteen days friends overtook friends 515 times and the number one spot changed hands 24 times. We posted it, because that is the number that tells you people were playing with each other.

  6. 19 July

    The final

104 matches called. 129 players on the public ranking. Bragging rights settled.

What we learned

Six in ten brought someone with them.

83 of 141 sign-ups joined a league with people they already knew. We built this one for the group chat, and that is exactly where people took it.

Overtakes are the number we watch.

Footie Predict is built to be closed. You make your calls, you get on with your day, and then you argue about it in the group chat. 605 friend overtakes and 26 lead changes are how we know that is happening.

Exact is rare, and that is the fun.

9% of scorelines were exact; 58% got the result. The gap between the two is where jokers, insights and the table's daily drama live.

The first friends-and-family cohort drafts its clubs. Real numbers replace the samples here.

What we learned

Watch this space.

The first insight arrives with the first season: which realm wins more, which biome flips a match, how long a five-minute match really takes.

How we count

Counted from our own databases on 20 August 2026: aggregates only, no personal data. Footie Predict's tournament is complete, so its figures are final. Jungle Draft is in early access; its sample figures are marked and will be replaced by real ones as soon as there are any.
